This is a behavioural abnormality that is mostly found in children between the age of 6 - 12 years. The children tend to do poorly in class due to lack of concentration and this most times infuriates parents who feel their children are stubborn. It could also go on in adults, but symptoms tend to be much less obvious. Common in children who are born prematurely and in mothers who smoke and drink during pregnancy.

Presentation

Children could be easily distracted, have a short attention span, appear forgetful, restless and impulsive and usually disorganised.

They could be of any intelligence groups however most of them have learning disabilities.

Treatment

Most children require behavioural support which could be diverse from school psychology, family therapy, counselling and most of all patience when dealing with them.
