This is a lung condition that is caused by exposure to asbestosis for a long period of time. Asbestosis is a material that was previously is used in buildings, it tends to leave a fine dust particle which if ingested could cause problems with the lungs over many years.
It is found mostly in elderly people especially if they worked in construction particularly from 1970s.
You may have been exposed to asbestos if you worked in an industry such as building or construction, particularly in the 1970s-90s.
Persistent cough, shortness of breath, wheezing occasional pain in the chest or shoulder and feeling tired.
Self-check especially if you have been working in a construction company in the 70s, a simple chest x-ray could help pick up mild abnormalities.
Smoking obviously does not make it any better so stopping it would do a lot of good.
It depends on the stage; it could well be left alone, and you could live a normal life if it is not advanced. Nevertheless, getting investigated is important and you might need medications to help and a referral to the respiratory team.
