This condition occurs when one of the heart valves thicken and does not open properly. It occurs in adults, mostly above the age of 65.
Most times this condition has no symptoms hence could go on unnoticed. The initial phase could be thickened valves due to deposits of calcium. This is called Aortic sclerosis with many people getting this stage and no progressing from them.
Symptoms include: Shortness of breath, chest pains, dizziness or collapse.
Most symptoms are asymptomatic so you could have it without knowing. A review by a cardiologist is important as they could decide if treatment is necessary.
