Actinic keratosis (solar keratosis) are rough skin patches that look stuck on in appearance. These can occur anywhere but are more common over sun exposes areas especially head and face regions.

Presentation

Red, pink, brown or skin-coloured, rough but they tend to look like they were stuck on the skin

Sometimes sore and itchy and could be a few millimetres in size.

Self-help tips:

Protect yourself from the sun if possible.

Treatment:

Most times they could go away on their own. Sometimes you might need a cream prescribed by your doctor Or could need to be referred to a skin specialist.
